The Machinists Institute is offering a free training program for employed people interested in welding.
This introductory course is open to four employees of Machinists Institute training partners to learn MiG welding basics.

Course Info
This course will cover introductory gas shielded MiG (metal inert gas) welding. Participants will gain insight into what to expect from a welding apprenticeship over the course of 12 lessons. Please note that this course will not result in certification, college credit or RSI hours upon completion.

Welding safety. Electrical, UV, and respiratory safety
Watts law V * A = W
Basic Welding theory, Heat, material and atmosphere.
Mig welding systems small and large
Mig welding controls
WFS and Voltage, how to adjust your machine
Auto-darkening Welding helmets, how they work
Correct welding Posture, Forehand, backhand and manipulations
GMAW with ar/c02
FCAW-s E71t-8-h8
· Troubleshooting your machine
Identifying and correcting various welding issues.
Jackets, gloves and helmets will be provided.
Participants must wear appropriate attire. Nylon and any other synthetic materials are extremely flammable and will be burnt through by welding sparks. For safety of all participants, it is mandatory to follow these clothing policies:
Long sleeve shirts, full length pants and footwear made from natural fibers and materials, such as 100% cotton, denim jeans, leather boots.
No hoodies, sweat pants or thick facial hair
