Board of Directors, Machinists Institute
Jim Henle has worked for Battelle for over 10 years and has been a machinist for 24 years. Jim has been active in union leadership including roles of shop steward, chief steward, trustee, recording secretary and his current role of president. Jim’s experience consists of creating small parts for ultra-sonic test probes to repairing large shafts used in the farming industry, and ranges from machining grown copper to cutting glass samples being used to perfect the vitrification of hazardous nuclear waste.
Jim appreciates the opportunity to serve as a board member for the Machinist Institute because it is one way he can support the advancement of the rights of workers in the machining industry. Being on the board of the institute allows him to extend his knowledge gained through leadership to workforce development.
His vision for the institute is to have a robust program that facilitates the development and growth of the current and future workforce. Jim brings extensive industry and leadership experience to the institute board as well as an eastern Washington perspective. When not working he enjoys traveling and being outdoors.
