Rusty Oliver

WELDING PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Rusty Oliver is the founder and director of Hazard Factory, an industrial arts studio that teaches welding and related subjects. Hazard Factory also produces local art events including the Power Tool Drag Races. Rusty experiments and fabricates. He often collaborates with local authors, engineers and scientists to produce new work. He is currently fooling around with plasma, high voltage and prototyping welding projects with a modified co2 laser. His interest in learning new subjects translates very naturally into teaching others and he has taught tens of thousands of students how to weld. He has also taught foundry-work, blacksmithing, bike building, and fabrication. Rusty currently lives in Renton, with his wife Trinity in a Quonset home which he saved from certain demolition and renovated over the course of the last seven years.
