Casey Gallagher
REGIONAL DIRECTOR, CALIFORNIA
As the Regional Director of Operations in California, Casey is working on expanding the mission, vision and values of the Machinists Institute into California and across the West Coast.
Before coming to the Machinists Institute, he has worked throughout the Labor Movement as a researcher, organizer, educator, workforce/economic development specialist and apprenticeship coordinator. Originally, starting his career with the International Association of Machinists District 190, Casey is excited to be back working with the Machinists Union and growing the groundbreaking work of the Machinists Institute.
Casey’s dedication to this work stems from growing up in a union household and observing firsthand the impact that good jobs and apprenticeship opportunities can lead to intergenerational upward mobility and community empowerment. Over the last decade, he has assisted in the development, design, expansion and implementation of registered apprenticeship programs, high road training partnerships, career pathway/pipeline programs, community benefits agreements, community workforce agreements and policies that have led towards the creation of equitable and sustainable workforce development opportunities for all working people.
When not building and expanding apprenticeship programs, Casey can be found on the scenic trails of Northern California, wrenching on vintage cars or playing bass for San Francisco Bay Area Rock ‘n’ Roll bands
